This is a Technology Today ALERT - the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team launched Alert (TA18-106A), this past week! 

 

WHY US-CERT LAUNCHED ALERT (TA18-106A) 

The alert was launched in response to Russian state-sponsored cyber actors, targeting network infrastructure devices. The alert is a joint effort between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the United Kingdom's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)

 

WHAT IS BEING ATTACKED

The attacks are an international exploitation of network infrastructure devices - such as, routers, switches, firewalls and Network-based Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS). 

 

TARGETS

The main targets are government and private-sector organizations.
